This is probably meant to sound romantic, as I’ve heard of people saying it to their significant other, but it actually sounds emotionally abusive even if that’s unintended. Shouldn’t it be more like, “I’m so lucky to have you in my life because you’re such a loveable person, and I sometimes I just look at you and pause for a moment with the realization that I can’t believe I get to be with you?” Would you want to be with someone who doesn’t think someone else will love you as much? Or who doesn’t think anyone else has more to give to you or feel about you than themselves? Shouldn’t they think of you and treat you in a way that says you’re wonderful enough to inspire just as much love from others, but they feel lucky to be the one you chose? And shouldn’t you treat them with the same gratitude? This message is multiple weird.

This was the post I saw on my news feed…

we’re all equal!??! OMG YOU GUYS BEST DAY EVER
DID YOU KNOW WE FINALLY REACHED EQUALITY!!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!
that’s awesome. i’m glad that i no longer have to worried about my fellow queers: being denied hospital visitation rights to their loved ones; facing harassment any and everywhere, for simple things like holding hands; losing their jobs for identifying as lgbtq; not being able to marry like their straight counterparts; not being able to adopt children; not receiving unbiased healthcare because of gender expression; and rarely seeing themselves represented in the media!!!THAT IS GREAT NEWS!!!!
and that’s only in america. let’s not even discuss the atrocities against lgbtq persons in other countries. death penalty!? GONE. thanks, facebook.
